Sweets gives quick high energy because their Glycemic index (GI) Glucose is high (their glucose release in the blood stream is quick) so when we need quick energy , we need to eat sweets.
Once we eat sweets, the body produces more insulin to burn their glucose (suddenly) in the blood and the more insulin we produce the more we need sweets in our body it is like a chain reaction. That is why we are addicted to it. But be careful too much sugar can cause danger to your health too.

Keep lots of other fruits around also. oranges, apples and many others have lots of fiber in them too. Carbs are not equal. Plus you get all the vitamins and enzymes too :)
