I definitely think that setting realistic goals is the biggest key to weight loss. I have a friend that is constantly setting unrealistic exercise goals and he never reaches them.

A great goal setting technique I learned is to set goals in 3's.

1. Minimum Goals
2. Good Goals
3. Ecstatic Goals

Say I want to go bicycling every day with my kids.

My minimum would be 1 bicycle ride.
My intermediate goal would be 3 bicycle rides
and my ecstatic goal would be to go everyday.

See no matter what I win, check out Raymond Aaron for more info on this.

This is by far one of the best, and most straight forward posts I have read about following through with your goals in a LONG TIME! Thank you!

It's motivating, and educating. Keep up the great work.

I definately believe that setting doable goals is the key to obtaining weight loss. The main goal I think should be to make food healthier choices for life not just to lose your goal weight. Staying fit and healthy is a lifestyle.
